一、常州概况
常州是一座拥有3200多年历史的文化古城,常住人口530余万人。境内风景名胜、文化古迹众多,是中国最安全、最宜居和最具投资价值的城市之一,是国务院批复确定的中国长江三角洲地区中心城市之一,先后获得“全国文明城市”“全国优秀旅游城市”“国家园林城市”“国家历史文化名城”等荣誉称号。
常州位于江苏省南部,与上海、南京两大都市等距相望,与苏州、无锡联袂成片,构成苏锡常都市圈。常州交通非常便利,常州奔牛国际机场通航40多个境内外城市;市区设有4个火车站,乘高铁到上海仅需1个小时,到首都北京最快仅需4小时;常州市内城市轨道交通地铁1号线和2号线已开通运营。
二、学校概况
常州工学院创建于1978年,是教育部批准成立的全日制公办普通本科高校。学校总占地面积近1500亩,现有在职教职工1400余人,全日制在校生18000余人,留学生100余人。设有20个教学单位,拥有58个本科专业,3个专业硕士点,是一所以工科为主、多学科门类协调发展、特色明显的应用型地方大学。学校拥有现代化的图书馆、完备的体育设施、产教融合发展项目实训楼、文化艺术活动中心、国际学术交流中心以及先进的教学设备和实验室等。
学校坚持开放办学,广泛开展国际教育交流与合作,与英国、美国、德国、日本等国家的60多所高校在学术交流、科研合作、学分互认、合作办学等领域建立了长期的友好合作关系。
学校自1994年开始招收外国留学生,招收来自亚洲、欧洲、美洲、非洲等世界60多个国家和地区的留学生,为江苏省教育厅认定的“留学江苏”目标学校、江苏省来华留学生教育先进集体,常州市外国人中华文化培训基地、常州市外国人汉语言文化学习中心。
三、申请条件
(一)基本要求:
1.外国公民,无犯罪记录(对原为中国公民后加入外国国籍申请者,按教育部相关规定执行);
2.品行良好,身心健康(到校后体检不合格不予注册),遵守中国法律法规和学校规章制度,尊重中国的公序良俗;
3.成绩优良,具有较好的汉语或英语听、说、读、写能力;
4.具有相应的学历证明。
(二)学历及年龄要求:
1.本科项目(含“专转本”项目)、本科预科项目,须有高中及以上学历,年龄原则上18周岁以上、22周岁以下(“专转本”项目申请者24周岁以下);
2.汉语言学习长期项目:年龄原则上在18周岁以上、50周岁以下。
(三)语言及其他要求:
1.中文授课本科项目(含“专转本”项目)申请者中文能力应达到《国际汉语能力标准》四级水平(HSK-4级笔试成绩180分及以上)。
2.选择英语授课项目的非英语国家申请者需提供雅思或托福成绩证明(雅思5.5分或托福60分及以上),或在入学时通过学校组织的英语测试;申请者如来自英语为官方语言的国家,可申请免试英语。
3.选择经管类及理工类专业学生须有较好的数学基础,选择学习建筑学、艺术类专业学生须有较好的绘画基础。
4.优先录取参加CSCA考试的本科生申请人,并根据申请人分数择优录取。
四、招生项目
(一)学历项目
1.中文授课本科项目
标准学制为4年(建筑学标准学制为5年),最长学习年限不超过6年。本科第一年由国际交流学院负责按大类培养,第二年进入相关二级学院与同专业中国学生一起学习。修满培养方案规定的各类学分达到毕业要求的,颁发本科毕业证书;满足学位授予条件的,授予学士学位证书。

2.英文授课本科项目
标准学制为4年,最长学习年限不超过6年。本科第一年由国际交流学院负责按大类培养,第二年进入赫特福德学院与同专业中国学生一起学习。修满培养方案规定的各类学分且达到毕业要求的,颁发常州工学院本科毕业证书;满足学位授予条件的,授予常州工学院学士学位证书。具体招生专业见本简章第五条。
3.中文授课“专转本”项目
标准学制为2年,最长学习年限不超过3年。中国大陆境内高职院校专科毕业留学生,插入我校本科相同或相近专业三年级中国学生班级学习。修满培养方案规定的各类学分达到毕业要求的,颁发本科毕业证书;满足学位授予条件的,授予学士学位证书。具体招生专业见本简章第五条。
(二)非学历项目
1.本科预科项目
招收拟就读我校中文授课本科项目、但无汉语基础或汉语能力未达到专业学习要求的学生。预科学习一般为1-2年,主要课程包括:汉语综合、汉语口语、汉语听力、汉字读写、HSK考试强化训练、数学等课程。
2.汉语言学习长期项目
培养学生的汉语听、说、读、写能力及跨文化交际能力。课程学习时间一般为0.5-2年。根据学生的中文水平分为不同的班级。主要课程包括:综合汉语、汉语口语、汉语听力、HSK考试强化训练、中国文化等。参加所有课程并通过考试的学生可以在完成课程后获得学习证书。
3.短期交流项目
与我校建立合作的境外学校来校进行短期学习交流。

十、奖学金
(一)留学江苏政府奖学金(优秀学生奖学金)
每年10-11月评选(留学江苏政府奖学金与校设留学生奖学金不可兼得),学费全免。
(二)常州工学院留学生奖学金
1.常州工学院本科项目新生奖学金
主要用于奖励在我校完成预科学习或汉语言学习、并申请我校本科项目优秀留学生,或申请“专转本”项目的学生。在入学申请阶段评选,奖励标准根据新生HSK成绩、学业成绩、面试成绩等综合评定。奖励金额分3000元/人、6000元/人、9000元/人三档。

I. About Changzhou
Changzhou is a cultural city with a history of over 3,200 years, with a population of more than 5.3 million. It abounds in scenic spots and cultural heritage sites, and is recognized as one of China's safest, most livable, and most investment-worthy cities. It is also a central city in the Yangtze River Delta region as approved by the State Council, and has been honored with titles such as National Civilized City, National Excellent Tourism City, National Garden City, and National Historical and Cultural City.
Located in the southern part of Jiangsu Province, Changzhou is equidistant from Shanghai and Nanjing, and forms the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area together with Suzhou and Wuxi. The city boasts convenient transportation: Changzhou Benniu International Airport operates flights to over 40 domestic and international cities; there are 4 railway stations in the urban area, with high-speed rail taking just 1 hour to reach Shanghai and 4 hours to Beijing; the urban rail transit system, including Metro Line 1 and Line 2, is already in operation.
II. About Changzhou Institute of Technology (CIT)
Founded in 1978, Changzhou Institute of Technology (herein referred to as CIT) is a full-time higher education institution approved by the Ministry of Education in China. Covering an area of 100 hectares, the university has over 1,400 faculty and staff members, more than 18,000 full-time students, and over 100 international students. It comprises 20 academic units, offering 58 undergraduate programs and 3 master's programs. As an application-oriented university with engineering as its focus and coordinated development across multiple disciplines, it features modern libraries, comprehensive sports facilities, industry-education integration training centers, cultural and art activity centers, international academic exchange centers, and advanced teaching equipment and laboratories.
CIT adheres to an open education philosophy and actively engages in international exchanges and cooperation. It has established long-term cooperative relationships with over 60 universities in countries including the UK, the US, Germany, Japan, covering academic exchanges, joint research, credit recognition, and collaborative education.
Since 1994, CIT has been enrolling international students from more than 60 countries and regions across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. It is designated as a Study in Jiangsu demonstration university by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and has been recognized as an Advanced Collective for International Student Education in Jiangsu Province, a Base for Chinese Cultural Training for Foreigners in Changzhou, and a Centre for Chinese Language and Cultural Learning for Foreigners in Changzhou.
III. Application Requirements
1. Basic Requirements
(1) Foreign citizens with no criminal record. For applicants who were originally Chinese citizens and later acquired foreign nationality, the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education shall apply.
(2) Good conduct, sound physical and mental health (those who fail the physical examination after arrival will not be registered). Abide by Chinese laws, regulations and school rules, and respect Chinese public morality and customs.
(3) Excellent academic performance: with good listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities in Chinese or English.
(4) Possess the corresponding academic certificates.
2. Educational Background and Age Requirements
(1) Undergraduate programs (including Top-up to Bachelor's Degree programs) and Undergraduate Foundation Programs: Must have a high school diploma or above. The age is generally between 18 and 22 years old (for Top-up to Bachelor's Degree program applicants, under 24 years old).
(2) Long-term Chinese Language Programs: The age is generally between 18 and 50 years old.
3. Language and Other Requirements
(1) Chinese-taught undergraduate programs (including Top-up to Bachelor's Degree programs): Applicants must have a Chinese proficiency level of HSK Level 4 (with a score of 180 or higher in the written test).
(2) English-taught programs (for non-English speaking countries): Applicants are required to provide IELTS or TOEFL scores (IELTS 5.5 or above, TOEFL 60 or above), or pass the English test organized by the university upon admission. Applicants from countries where English is the official language may be exempted from the English test.
(3) Applicants choosing economics, management, engineering or science programs must have a good foundation in mathematics. Applicants choosing architecture or art programs must have good painting skills.
(4) Undergraduate applicants who have taken the CSCA Exam will be given priority for admission, and admission will be granted based on their scores in a competitive selection.
IV. Programs Offered
1. Degree Programs
(1) Chinese-taught Undergraduate Programs
Standard duration: 4 years (5 years for Architecture program), with a maximum study period of no more than 6 years. In the first year, students receive general education at the School of International Exchange. From the second year onward, they join relevant secondary schools and study alongside Chinese students in the same major. Upon completing all required credits in the curriculum and meeting graduation requirements, students will be awarded an Undergraduate Graduation Certificate from CIT. Those who meet the degree requirements will be awarded a Bachelor's Degree Certificate. For a list of specific majors, please refer to Section V of this brochure.
(2) English-taught Undergraduate Programs
Standard duration: 4 years, with a maximum study period of no more than 6 years. In the first year, students receive general education at the School of International Exchange. From the second year onward, they join the Hertfordshire College and study alongside Chinese students in the same major. Upon completing all required credits in the curriculum and meeting graduation requirements, students will be awarded an Undergraduate Graduation Certificate from CIT. Those who meet the degree requirements will be awarded a Bachelor's Degree Certificate. For a list of specific majors, please refer to Section V of this Brochure.
(3) Chinese-taught Top-up to Bachelor's Degree Program
Standard duration: 2 years, with a maximum study period of no more than 3 years. This program is for international students who have graduated from higher vocational colleges in China. They will be admitted to the third year of the same or similar undergraduate programs at CIT, studying alongside Chinese students. Upon completing all required credits in the curriculum and meeting graduation requirements, students will be awarded an Undergraduate Graduation Certificate. Those who meet the degree requirements will be awarded a Bachelor's Degree Certificate.

2. Non-Degree Programs
(1) Undergraduate Preparatory Program
This program recruits students who intend to pursue Chinese-taught undergraduate programs at CIT but have no Chinese foundation or whose Chinese proficiency does not meet the requirements for major studies. The preparatory program usually lasts 1–2 years. Main courses include: Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading and Writing, HSK Intensive Training, Mathematics, etc.
(2) Long-Term Chinese Language Program
This program aims to develop students’ Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills as well as cross-cultural communication abilities. The program duration is generally 0.5–2 years. Students are placed into different classes according to their Chinese proficiency.Core courses include: Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Listening, HSK Intensive Training, Chinese Culture, etc.Students who attend all courses and pass the examinations will receive a certificate of completion upon finishing the program.
(3) Short-Term Exchange Program
This program is for overseas institutions that have established partnerships with CIT to conduct short-term study and exchange activities on campus.

X. Scholarships
1. Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship:
Selection Period: October–November annually. Benefit: Full tuition waiver.
Note: This scholarship cannot be combined with CIT’s International Student Scholarships.
2. CIT Scholarships for International Students
(1 ) Freshman Scholarship for Undergraduate Programs
This scholarship is primarily awarded to outstanding international students who have completed their preparatory program or Chinese language studies at CIT and have applied for CIT’s undergraduate programs, or to students applying for the Top-up to Bachelor's Degree Program. The selection is conducted during the application phase, and the award criteria are comprehensively determined based on the HSK scores, academic performance, and interview results. The scholarship amount is divided into three tiers: 3,000 yuan/person, 6,000 yuan/person, and 9,000 yuan/person.
Note: The freshman scholarship is used to offset the first-year tuition fees.
(2)Individual Scholarships for International Students (for Degree Students)
① Academic Excellence Scholarship: This scholarship is primarily awarded to degree-seeking international students who have studied at CIT for more than one academic year and achieved outstanding academic performance. The selection is conducted annually between October and November. The scholarship amounts are as follows:
●First-class Academic Excellence Scholarship: 6,000 yuan/person
●Second-class Academic Excellence Scholarship: 3,000 yuan per person
●Third-class Academic Excellence Scholarship: 1,000 yuan per person
② Comprehensive Quality and Ability Scholarship: This scholarship is primarily awarded to degree-seeking international students who actively participate in various discipline competitions, scientific and technological activities, sports, cultural and artistic events, or social activities, and promote Sino-foreign cultural exchanges. The selection is conducted annually between October and November, with an award amount of 500 yuan per student.
(3) Excellent International Student Scholarship (for Degree Students)
This scholarship is selected from students who have received both the Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Comprehensive Quality and Ability Scholarship. The selection is conducted annually between October and November, with an award amount of 9,000 yuan per student.
Note: The Excellent International Student Scholarship and the Individual Scholarships for International Students cannot be received concurrently.
XI. Visa Application and Registration
Admittees should apply for a visa (X1) to study in China at the Chinese embassy (consulate) in the host country, bringing documents such as an ordinary passport, the Admission Notice, and the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202 form). They should then register at Changzhou Institute of Technology at the specified time. Those who fail to pass the entrance examination after registration will be disqualified.
